BERTSYS03 Unit 3: The World of Water In this course students will learn about the Earth’s water system. You will study the properties and behavior of water. BERTSYS04 Unit 4: Wild Blue Oceans In this course students will learn about the Earth’s oceans. You will study the landforms of the ocean floor and the ocean environment and life forms. BERTSYS05 Unit 5: Earth’s Tectonics In this course students will learn about the layers and boundaries of the Earth. Students will study the continental drift and plate tectonic theories. BERTSYS06 Unit 6: Earthquakes & Volcanoes In this course students will learn how to interpret earthquake activity using seismic wave data. Students will identify local earthquake risks and research the importance of predictions and warnings. BERTSYS07 Unit 7: Utah Earth Systems In this course students will learn about Utah’s Earth Systems. Students will study temperature inversions and air pollution and how they affect us here in Utah. You will also learn about Utah’s severe weather and climate. Students will study Utah’s water cycle and ecosystems. In this course you will also research the geology of Utah and the earthquake potential here. 0.125 or 1/8th Science Core
BERTSYS08 Unit 8: Earth, Solar System & Universe In this course students will learn about the Big Bang Theory and the evidence used to support it. You will study the formation of the elements and the life cycle of the stars. Students will study the formation of the Solar System and the process that exist in the universe.
